Invitation to Participate in EU4Health Tenders

The European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) has announced a tender under the EU4Health program for:

🚀 Development of a Rapid, Portable Medical Device for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST) 🚀

The goal is to create a device that provides AST results within one hour of sample collection and, ideally, also identifies pathogens responsible for the infection. Particular emphasis is placed on identifying bacteria from the 2024 WHO priority pathogen list, as well as fungi such as Candida spp. and Aspergillus fumigatus.

The tender aims to accelerate the development of AST devices currently in the research phase. Proposed products should reach at least Technology Readiness Level 3 (TRL 3) with a clearly defined pathway to obtaining CE marking in the European Union. By the end of the contract, the product should achieve TRL 8, meaning a complete and qualified system.

The estimated budget for the project is €12,860,000. The deadline for submitting proposals in the first stage of the procedure is May 12, 2025, at 16:00 (CET). Invitations to submit offers for the second stage are planned for early June, with the final submission deadline expected in early September. Detailed information and tender documentation are available on the European Commission’s Funding & Tenders Portal.

🚀 Development of Next-Generation Influenza Vaccines and Acceleration of Access to Mpox Vaccines 🚀

The aim is to support the faster deployment of vaccines in response to global health threats. The tender includes procuring clinical services for clinical trials and/or equivalent scientific activities to assess and compare the immunogenicity of the MVA-BN booster dose through different administration routes (intradermal and subcutaneous) and the appropriate timing of its administration.

The activities covered by this tender include conducting Phase II and/or Phase III clinical trials. The results of these studies should contribute to providing evidence supporting the European Commission and EU Member States in making health policy decisions, including stockpiling strategies and dose-sparing strategies during shortages, as well as the development and optimization of vaccination strategies adopted by public health authorities.

We invite you to submit offers by April 21, 2025, at 16:00 (CET). Full details on the tender are available on the EU Funding & Tenders Portal. Your research findings will play a significant role in shaping vaccination strategies adopted by public health authorities and may help the European Commission and EU Member States in formulating policies related to vaccine stockpiling and dose-sparing strategies during periods of scarcity.

These initiatives aim to enhance preparedness for future health crises and combat antimicrobial resistance.

EU4Health is the fourth and largest EU health program, going beyond the response to the COVID-19 crisis and focusing on strengthening the resilience of European healthcare systems.

HaDEA manages most of the EU4Health budget and implements the program through the administration of calls for proposals and tenders for the period 2021–2027.
