Innovation Days 2019

EIT Health INNOVATION DAYS

EIT Health Innovation Days is a cyclical event organized by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology in the field of health in 14 regional coordination centers of the Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) initiative across Europe. In Poland, this function is performed by the Medical University of Gdansk through its Technology Transfer Office.

The Innovation Days initiative involves the academic community from all Tricity universities, including lecturers, students, graduates, and doctoral students, as well as the business sphere (start-ups, companies, entrepreneurship coaches, and social scientists).

The idea was to select 10 interdisciplinary teams (3-4 persons) with complementary competencies (e.g. medical, IT, social sciences students) to take part in a competition on the theme of 'Bringing Care Home’. During two blocks of workshops, participants gained knowledge about 'Design Thinking’ – a process for stimulating creative design thinking – and 'Pitching’ – a concise form of audio-visual presentation of an idea. Selected groups had the opportunity to present their ideas/prototypes to a jury.

Members of the jury as representatives of different backgrounds and disciplines (professors from Tricity universities, psychologists, entrepreneurship coaches, businessmen) selected the three winning teams. The winners of the first prize also took part in the Winners event, organized by Imperial College, and had the chance to compete for the main prize among the winners from the other 14 regional centers (RIS).

We invited students, graduates, and postgraduates in medicine, biotechnology, social sciences, IT, and management from all Tricity universities to participate in the competition.

The event received honorary patronage from: WP Marshal, Rector of GUMED, Rector of PG, Rector of UG.

The event was covered under media patronage by: TVP3 Gdańsk, Radio Gdańsk, Dziennik Bałtycki, mamstartup.pl.
