European Institute of Innovation and Technology

EIT helps businesses, educational and research bodies work together to create an environment conducive for innovation and entrepreneurship in Europe. EIT increases Europe’s capacity to innovate, compete with foreign peers and so create jobs and wealth. It brings together the 3 key players in innovation – business, education and research – to form dynamic, multi-country partnerships, known as Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs).

EIT Health

EIT Health is a network of best-in-class health innovators backed by the EU. We deliver solutions to enable European citizens to live longer, healthier lives by promoting innovation. We connect the right people and the right topics across European borders, so that innovation can happen at the intersection of research, education and business – for the benefit of citizens.

EIT Health facilitates innovation to improve the health of European citizens , collaborate across European borders and bring stakeholders to the table, improve health education, promote healthy lifestyles, and help health professionals grow. The EIT Health network comprises best-in-class health innovators, who create outside-the-box solutions.

EIT Health mission

EIT Health Hub in global will ensure active involvement of local Knowledge Triangle players to create the local innovation networks and facilitate efforts. These activities bring together leading healthcare companies across multiple industry sectors, public and private research centers, and also top universities to create a powerful network of partners with one clear mission.

The mission is to accelerate entrepreneurship and innovation in healthy living and active ageing by providing Europe’s top talents with innovative solutions for the benefit of all citizens.

EIT Health goals

Strengthening healthcare systems in Europe

EIT Health wants to contribute to a stronger health ecosystem in Europe. EIT Health is working to overcome fragmentation, to address broad challenges, to increase efficiency, and to break down barriers. By bringing together research, education, and business, aims to help healthcare grow and evolve.

Promoting better health of citizens

European citizens and patients are at the centre of what EIT Health does. Innovative healthcare solutions aim to transform health outcomes. Through products, dissemination of findings, and educational activities, EIT Health seeks to promote healthy living and active ageing.

Contributing to a sustainable health economy in Europe

EIT Health wants to create a fertile environment for growth and innovation, because health innovation and entrepreneurship ultimately benefit the health economy and citizens. By bringing innovative ideas to market, EIT Health also helps to create new jobs.

Regional Innovation Scheme

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) established the Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) to increase the innovation capacity in areas of Europe not directly benefitting from the activities of EIT Health and other EIT Knowledge and Information Communities (KICs).

EIT Health’s RIS is designed to close the gap between regions that are leaders in healthcare innovation and areas that have more moderate innovation. The goal is to help citizens in less developed European countries enjoy the benefits of innovation – and have access to new products and services supporting active aging and healthy living.

Target group

RIS provides an opportunity for all important stakeholders of 13 RIS regions to be engaged with the EIT Health network and activities. Specific target groups include: students, PhDs, innovators, entrepreneurs, professionals, executives, start-ups, SMEs, companies, municipalities, citizens, patients and healthcare providers.
